About us
Welcome to Vaucluse Public School! At Vaucluse Public School, your child will thrive - not just academically, but socially and emotionally as well. These school years help shape their future, build confidence, and often spark friendships that last a lifetime - for both students and parents.
If you have any questions or need support, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the P&C. We’re here to help.
The Parents and Citizens' Association (P&C) is a volunteer-led group made up of parents, carers, and community members. We focus on two key areas: fundraising and building a strong, connected community that supports the school and its students.
Through collaboration with parents, students, and staff, we provide input on school policies, organise events, and raise funds that contribute to extra resources and improved facilities. Most importantly, we work to create a positive and inclusive environment for all families.
Our primary goal is to raise funds that directly benefit students by supporting teachers and enhancing the learning environment. While the government provides essential baseline funding, additional resources—such as electronic whiteboards, robotics equipment, classroom readers, air conditioning, and a well-stocked library—are made possible through the efforts of the P&C and our generous school community.
Fundraising
We raise money through a variety of events, campaigns, and programs that rely on the time and support of our wonderful volunteers. These include the clothing pool, extracurricular classes, and community events like Colour Runs, cocktail parties, our annual Movie Night, and the much-loved Country Carnival.
Between 2015 and 2019, the P&C proudly raised and contributed over $500,000 to the school. You can find examples of P&C-funded resources below.
We welcome fundraising ideas from both parents and students - your input matters!
Together, we can continue to enrich our children’s education and school experience.
Building Community – The Heart of the P&C
The P&C’s second key role is just as important as fundraising: fostering a strong and connected school community.
We serve as a unifying force for parent involvement by organising events and seasonal gatherings that not only support fundraising efforts but also celebrate the power of connection. These occasions help create a supportive village around our school - something that benefits both our children and us as parents and caregivers.
The Canteen – Nourishing Students, Supporting the School
In 2024, the P&C proudly took on the management of the school canteen. Our goal is to provide nutritious, tasty, and affordable meal options for busy families, along with convenient extras like excursion packs. The canteen operates on a not-for-profit basis, with all proceeds reinvested into maintaining and improving the service.
Parent support is essential to keep the canteen running smoothly. New volunteers are always welcome, and any time you can give - even just an hour - makes a huge difference. It’s a great way to connect with the school community, and a lovely chance to catch a wave (and a proud smile!) from your child during the day.
We’d love to have you involved!
Volunteering
Volunteering is a fun and rewarding way to connect with other families and feel part of the school community. As a parent or carer at the school, you’re automatically a member of the P&C, and your involvement - big or small - is always encouraged and appreciated.
We hold P&C meetings once each term to keep you informed, hear your ideas, and involve you in decisions that shape our school community. Fresh perspectives, especially from new parents, are incredibly valuable - your voice matters.
Whether you attend an event, lend a hand, or simply show up, your involvement makes a difference.

Seven Starting School Tips from the P&C
We’ve gathered a few tips from our own experiences of starting school. Hopefully they help make your first year a little smoother:
Read the weekly newsletter – every second Friday night. Make it a ritual. Everything you need to know is in there - but you’ll miss it if you don’t read it. If you do nothing else in your parent career, do this!
Join your class WhatsApp group – You’ll be so grateful for those last-minute reminders (library bags, crazy sock day, cupcakes…).
Volunteer at the canteen – Your child will beam when they spot you at recess or lunch. Even one hour makes a huge difference.
Keep a cash jar at home – The school is mostly cashless, but a few fundraisers and the canteen still take coins. You’ll thank yourself when there’s a stall at 7am and you’re not digging through the car or couch cushions for loose change.
Attend a P&C meeting – Find out what’s happening, learn about future plans, and share your feedback. It really does take a village.
Don’t panic when your child says “I did nothing today” – It’s normal. The P&C has a great list of conversation starters.
Walk to and from school whenever you can – It’s a surprisingly peaceful way to start and end the day - and you’ll often get the best chats from your child on the way home.
